Neonatal thrombosis.

چکیده
Neonatal thromboembolic events, both arterial and venous, are rare but increasingly recognised problems in tertiary care neonatology. The pathophysiology of these events in the context of the neonatal haemostatic system and the importance of both inherited and acquired prothrombotic disorders remain poorly defined. Similarly, optimal diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in this setting are not currently based on sound clinical evidence, and there is a clear need to investigate these issues, which will inevitably require large multicentre studies.

Neonatal Thrombosis: Incidence and Risk Factors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Iran
Background: Neonatal thrombosis is one of the most important challenges among patients admitted in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which can lead to an asymptomatic condition, limb loss or even death. This study was performed to determine the incidence and risk factors of neonatal thrombosis in a tertiary care hospital in Tehran, Iran. Material and Methods: In this historical cohort, all n...

Background: Neonatal thrombotic diseases can cause mortality or serious morbidity and disability.Case report: In this report, we present a case of neonatal inferior vena cava thromboembolism with several underlyingfactors. Hereditary thrombophilia and genetic mutation in plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and MTHFR A1298C genesin conjunction with cleft palate resulted in poor l...
متن کاملThe Prevalence of Portal Vein Thrombosis in Children under 3 Years Old with History of Neonatal Umbilical Vein Catheterization in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Background Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is one of the most common causes of extrahepatic portal hypertension in children, which may follow neonatal umbilical vein catheterization. The incidence rates of catheter-related PVT, in infants and children vary in different studies. This study aimed to determine PVT incidence in the children under 3 years old with a history of neonatal umbilical vein c...
متن کاملNeonatal ascending aorta thrombosis: A case report
Thrombotic events are very unusual in neonatal period. This congenital anomaly may be caused by certain risk factors such as polycythemia, perinatal asphyxia, septicemia, maternal diabetes, dehydration, and low cardiac output, or it may occur upon catheterization of central lines. A 20-day-old neonate was referred to our ward with primary signs of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCMP). Echocardiog...
متن کاملIsolated cerebral sinovenous thrombosis: a rare case of neonatal antiphospholipid syndrome.
We describe a case of neonatal cerebral sinovenous thrombosis associated with the presence of anti-phospholipid antibodies (aPL). We recommend that in all cases of neonatal thrombosis, the couple mother-infant should be extensively tested for the presence of both acquired (aPL) and congenital thrombophilia.
متن کاملNEOnatal Central-venous Line Observational study on Thrombosis (NEOCLOT): evaluation of a national guideline on management of neonatal catheter-related thrombosis
BACKGROUND In critically ill (preterm) neonates, central venous catheters (CVCs) are increasingly used for administration of medication or parenteral nutrition. A serious complication, however, is the development of catheter-related thrombosis (CVC-thrombosis), which may resolve by itself or cause severe complications. Due to lack of evidence, management of neonatal CVC-thrombosis varies among ...
